Itinerary
Once you’ve cleared immigration and customs at Kigali International Airport, Rwanda, your Wildlife Safari representative will meet you and accompany you by private vehicle transfer to Kigali Serena Hotel.
After breakfast at Kigali Serena Hotel, travel north by road through the terraced hills of Rwanda’s small scale farms, towards the cloud-shrouded Virunga mountains. After lunch at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge, enjoy the afternoon at leisure to prepare for your gorilla trek. Dinner is at the lodge.
After an early breakfast at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge and briefing, set off with your guides and porters into the equatorial rain forest, searching for your designated mountain-gorilla family. Trek along the slopes of the Virunga mountain range, ascending slowly through dense bamboo and foliage for up to several hours while your guides locate the habituated gorillas. Your porter will carry camera equipment, additional clothing and bottled water. Once you’ve found them, you’ll spend quality time with your gorilla family, watching them feed and socialize, before trekking back to your starting point. Lunch and dinner are at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge.
After breakfast at Volcanoes Virunga Lodge, return by road to Kigali, where you’ll have lunch at a local restaurant. Time permitting; you’ll stop at a local craft market and cultural centre before arriving at Kigali International Airport for your onward flight arrangements.
