Pick up from Nairobi and drive to Sagana, a small town situated on the edge of a small plain at the southern foot of Mt. Kenya, via the Thika Superhighway. Tana River is the longest river in Kenya with unique beautiful sceneries (varies wildlife and abundant bird life).
On arrival you will be welcomed with a cup of coffee/ tea accompanied with some biscuits, followed by a short safety briefing before proceed to the departure point where you will be provided with life jackets, helmets and paddles. The tour begins with a short stretch of Class II and III rapids so that you can learn the necessary paddling skills, followed by a drift in calmer water that lasts about one hour, giving you time to take in the scenery to locate and identify many of the more than 110 bird species that are found in the area. The final four miles begins with Class III rapids and paddling skills and commands are reviewed before heading into the first of three Class IV and Class V rapids followed by smaller rapids.
Enjoy a delicious 3 course barbecue lunch at Savage Camp. After lunch you can enjoy zip lining at an extra cost or return to Nairobi arriving in the evening where you will be dropped off at the place of preference.
