Overview

Marangu route is considered to be the easiest route to the summit of this highest mountain in Africa.

Itinerary

After breakfast, you will board an AM shuttle from Nairobi to Arusha with a stopover on the way for lunch and at the Namanga boarder for the immigration process. You will arrive at Arusha later during the day and you will be dropped off at the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Early in the morning after breakfast you will depart for the Marangu gate and go through the registration process. This is where the journey begins; you will trek though the grassland forest for approximately 5 hours before arriving at the Mandara hut for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, you will ascend to the Horombo hut trekking through the moorlands and enjoying the serene view of the Kibo summit that is incredibly awesome. It is at this point you will start feeling the effect of the altitude. You will arrive at the hut for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, you will proceed to Kibo hut trekking through the path between Kibo peaks and mawenzi peak through a vegetation of heath land and later find the moonscape like vegetation. Dinner and overnight at the huts.

The following day you will wake up very early in the morning at around 2:30am and after a cup of coffee you will depart for the Uhuru summit and arriving on time for the sunrise. You will have a chance to take some photos before going down back to Kibo huts for full breakfast and further descend to Horombo huts for dinner and overnight.

On this day you will leave after breakfast descending down the path to the Mandara huts for lunch and later proceed down to the get for the checkout process and that’s where the driver will pick you from and proceed to Arusha and a drop off at your hotel for dinner and overnight.
